This would explain why their catalogue was discounted to itunes album pricing lately, grab the $10-per-album crowd's money while they can.
Music released to stores in January are what labels think have no shot. Unless itunes is different, I wouldn't expect Beatles there until March, possibly next Fall to make a big splash for xmas shoppers. The "1" album oughta be the biggest seller.
I found an article that says Lennon's rights reverted to his estate as the original 28-year period expired during the 90's. If true, McCartney and Sony/Jackson split the other 50%.
BTW, clearchannel didn't ban. Stations could take the advice or ignore it. Govt. censorship is all that truly matters, anyway. Radio Disney won't play death metal. oh no, BANNED! *eyeroll*

Maybe they will feature the Macbook Air Revision this year ;)
The Macbook Air got an event presentation in Octobre, it's not getting another event spot for what will be a spec bump. It's getting a silent update next.
Mac hardware has not really gotten any keynote time in the last few years. It's mostly been silent updates, even the Mac Mini redesign just showed up one morning.
So these guys pay $1000 to NOT see a keynote??
I'd wager the people paying 1000$ for WWDC don't do it for the keynote (hint, developers going to developer workshops). The keynote is just icing.

imagine let's say that wal mat due to this apple deal with all studios will make a statemnet saying we lost 10% or our revenues so we will lay off 10% of our employess to cover for the losses.!!
now what do you do in this case?
it's not a free world after all....
Wal*Mart losing 10% of their revenue would still leave them a VERY profitable company... and firing that many employees would probably cause them to close some stores... which would result in further loss of profit.
If Wal*Mart lost 10% of their revenue by movie purchases alone, they would have to concentrate harder on other things.
Something else confuses me though...
Wal*Mart caters to the lower income families... who likely don't have high-speed internet and are, thus, EXTREMELY unlikely to purchace movies from the iTS, lest they want to be downloading for 3 days straight. Those people will go to the local Wal*Mart and buy the same movie from the $5.50 bargain bin. Sleazy customers are happy; Wal*Mart is happy. What do they have to be complaining about?
Man, I love that bin. I've found so many awesome movies in there.......... like Total Recall. Okay, so maybe not THAT awesome.

I'm not american. Am I meant to know what RadioaShack is?
Nobody cares where you are from. Isn't it painfully obvious that Radio Shack is a store?

Imagine this, if you will. The Beatles 8 gigabyte (or larger) iPod complete with the entire Beatles library. 3.5" touch screen in a yellow case. Is Valentine's Day far away?
Of course to each his own but I have never gotten why the Beatles are a big deal? I grew up around that era but don't consider them to be super great. Now I am for anything that adds content that people want so Beatles for that reason will be a good thing. I think of them as the original boy band at first that morphed into drugged out folks. Some of the stuff in between is OK.

My thoughts are the same, people honestly believe that wwdc is just the keynote
It's the only part I (and a lot of people on this site) really care about. Is that such a big deal?

Yes they can BUT that is what he actually said. Unusual word choice?
Yes. Unusual and uncool.
Ballmer's blatant over-use of the word "squirt," is nothing more than MS' marketing "genius" at work... going with the say-a-weird-word-so-much-that-it-will-catch-on-and-work-it's-way-into-our-vernacular, strategy. Feels so contrived. I can almost see the goof balls at MS sitting in some Redmond boardroom, watching a PowerPoint presentation on why "squirt" will help take down the iPod and finally make MS seem cool, pie charts and all.
And that's the thing about cool - you can't fabricate it (or, it most certainly can't feel fabricated). It has to feel natural, not contrived. Basically, either something is cool or it is not. In this case, Zune and MS are not cool.
Sure, there is more to market share than cool, to which MS can well attest.
That said, market share is overrated - if not, uncool.

There is a very good article in the latest Popular Science (just got it in the mail two days ago -- I assume it is Nov-2002 issue -- when I get home, I'll verify).
The article discusses everything you guys are talking about.
It shows, very clearly, how Mhz and Ghz for benchmarking is not a good idea - it compares AMD to Intel, then throws the PowerPC into the mix.
It's definitely worth a read.

While the content isn't available yet. The fact that its listed prob means that they are close to putting it up.
That screen shot looks a little fishy, like an AMG and Muze database dump. The Vee Jay and Thunderbolt albums seem odd for a deal with EMI.

Anyone get the new 'Search' on their 5G ? I have updated iTunes and done the iPod update. Its probably not even a feature I will use much but it's a shame it's not included in the update.
Any luck with the games on a current 5G ? Would be quite nice to have PacMan

I would much rather have the rumored 2048x1536 display...If 3D is an added bonus to the res bump, then no harm done...I would just have to "dial" it down (if similar to 3DS). Ive got 20:10 vision and 3D makes me naucious after 10min of viewing:o
If course, I'm also the guy who cant read in cars without feeling sick:o

Here's a question to ponder...How are people suppose to install this firmware if there macbooks keep shutting down?
Anyways, I reccomend people use this firmware instead of geting their heatsink replaced. The later option involves an ugly screw in the middle of your macbook.

:( If it makes you feel any better, I slashed the tires of a guy the other day who was wearing a "I support single mothers" t-shirt with a silhouette of a stripper pole-dancing.
Why would you slash his tires, assuming your not exaggerating?

i feel like this would be a real battery killer... maybe not if you are just adding a few apps and cd's but when i sync ~6gb of music, contacts, calanders, apps, etc. it's a pretty long process over USB... don't even want to know how long it would take over wi-fi, nor would I want to sit around the house for a few hours to finish updating my phone all while the battery is getting raped.
I would imagine just using your dock plugged into a wall anywhere in the house while your device gets updated - or maybe the new devices will use some sort of Induction Charge and just lay it down on the mat and it will charge and also sync/update wirelessly.
