My Review: This is the second in the Percy Jackson series. It has much less character development, which if you're continuing the saga isn't necessarily a bad thing. I found it a bit lacking in drawing me in quite as much as the first novel because of this. But, there is more action per pages. You see lots of fighting, particularly with new Monsters and Percy starts to learn in new ways what his abilities are by being the son of Poseidon and just how to use them to save his life or his friends' lives. While I don't think it's better than the first, it was a fun read. I'll probably be picking up the next book here soon, although I think I need a short break before jumping into #3.

Sum it up: It felt like just a chapter in Percy's life--not necessarily the most important, but critical to the development of Percy's character.
