Made in Bandung, since January 2011. We try to give other alternatives in the premium market for handmade shoes. As our debut, we are releasing two models for starters, which we called BRISTOL and ASHCROFT, both are ankle boots made from cow leather. What we wanted our product foremost is the use of out-sole material combined from hard leather and sponge, in which to produce a strong construction and flexibility, as well as unique characteristic of our product.

THE PLAIN TWIST OF DANYA SJADZALI
I was born and bred in Jakarta. I always think that I’m very quiet but I’m working on it! I live in England, studying fashion design, and hoping to stay here for a few more years after I graduate – but let see what the future brings. And because of what I do, being out and about is a bit lacking these days. I stay up late with friends… for pre-deadline all-nighters. That’s our nightlife.
Describe yourself in a word
Atelophobic
Why fashion design?
Because fashion has always been, and will always be relevant to our lives. It’s so rich in history that it will continue to develop; and I want to be a part of it.
Who inspired you?
Ratmini Soedjatomoko, my grandma. It’s amazing how she has been living her life with that much talent and achievements. She inspired me to have an eventful and adventurous life.
What makes your design distinctive? They’re not. Not yet, I hope. I still haven’t found my distinct style when it comes to designing. But for now, I have a strong belief that decorations are really not necessary. It’s all about the craftsmanship in perfecting the basics. But I change my mind a lot.
Tell FUR your experience and achievements!
In high school, I managed to arrange my own fashion show – with help from dear friends which I still can’t thank enough. The collection shows a lot of draping using my family’s personal collection of traditional fabrics – different kinds of batik and some ikat and tenun. As part of last year’s Year 0 project, I recycled some garments and reconstructed them; and they got chosen – along with some others – to be sold at the opening of Mind’s Charity Shop (an organisation that helps people with mental illness) in Brighton, England. And the latest one was an internship with Carmanita, where I learnt so much about different areas in manufacturing – especially in making contemporary batik that I love so much!
What do you want to share through your works?
Well, I can’t anything through my work yet, but I hope in the future I can say that perfection does exist. Haha, too ambitious, perhaps?
Your biggest dream?
I really want to have shows at London Fashion Week, after I’m fed up with England’s gloomy weather I’ll go back home to Indonesia and make Indonesia one of the world’s fashion capitals – and I think it’s one of the ways to increase the welfare of the people.
If your design is a human what would it be like?
It would be a plain looking woman but when you look closer, you can see a certain twist in her character.

PORTE: A FUSION OF PHOTOGRAPHY AND FASHION
This is a cutting-edge label from Jakarta that combines the elements of fashion and photography altogether. The label name inspiration is after the word “portrait”, because we infused essential elements from a photograph into a versatile wardrobe collection ranging from women ready-to-wear to raw mineral accessories.
Who’s behind Porte?
The girls behind Porte are Emily May Gunawan, Rania Sembiring, Tiza Caesara, and Zefanya Kezia. The start of everything is from college friends then developed to creative partners.
Tell us more about Porte!Basically the main concept is to develop highly coveted products based on conceptual photographs. We want to let people wear a work-of-art into daily life, creating modern framework for individualities. Some may consider Porte as a little bit idealist in terms of design, but we make sure that each piece of our products can be mixed and worn effortlessy with other brands as well.
What inspired Porte?
Traveling and places inspired us very much. Therefore, each collections will be based on a photograph from certain cities. For now, the Delta of Ocean collection has the iconic umbrella photograph that was taken between the sand and sun in Bali.
Why Delta of Ocean? Share the story behind Porte's very first collection. Our first collection is all about the depth, mystery, and beauty of the sea. You can see them on our color schemes which are dark tones, sandy, colors, combined with bold ones such as navy blue, green tosca, and of course our umbrella pattern.
Imagine Porte’s buyer!
Because most of our products portray structured-design and a wee bit masculine, definitely this is not for girls that want to be pretty, but more for those who are dare to experiment new things, adding Porte to their wardrobe and still be who they really are. Our girls are the ones who dress for themselves.
Where can we find Porte?
You can simply reach us by e-mail to mail [at] portethelabel [dot] com. But currently we’re also having our pop-up store until 31 May 2011. It is located at Mal Kelapa Gading 5, 1st Floor, precisely between Sushi Tei and The Catwalk. Come in and join the fun!

CATCHING DREAMS WITH THE (V)INSANITY
Karena saya sangat suka beraksesoris. Aksesoris bagi saya merupakan elemen penting dalam fashion. To me, accessories are my other half and so does Jewellery making. Each piece tells its own story and has its own spiritual journey. Thursday, March 31, 2011

DYNCHAV
Dynchav, a name abbreviated from the two founders’s names Chavia Zagita & Dina Fitria is a bag line founded in 2008. In the beginning it started as a small, ordinary retail business that sells and distributes bags from wholesale markets for a cheap price. Though regardless the quick success with selling these bags, Dynchav thought they lacked characteristic, realising that trends change persistently, making their products unmemorable and common to the public eye.
Now, after taking a yearlong hiatus in 2009 re-evaluating, developing and designing, Dynchav has recently launched their debut collection "The Little Adventure of Bunny Girl". Chavia Zagita, the line's representative stated that despite having no educational background in art or fashion, the two of them had always wanted this. Dynchav was "simply a personal dream project" that was created bits by bits, failure after failure therefore even now Dynchav is always constantly expanding its potential and increasing product value by amplifying its quality - making sure the materials used for the products are of exceptional standard.
When asked, "why bags?" the answer was "As a woman we believe that everyone needs a bag to carry their personal items. We create high quality bags to contain a woman's dreams, hope and expectation of luxury, comfort and self satisfaction, not just a regular good looking non-rigid container." This shown by their debut’s official catalogue of The Adventure of Bunny Girl - having a female model the bags instead of having an all-bag catalogue. In terms of target market, Dynchav believes that their products are age-blind though aiming primarily for customers ranged from seventeen year-old teenage girls to women in their early thirties. “From kindergartens to grannies next door” is their motto.
As of now, all purchases are made through Dynchav's sales representative - reachable by text - or through orders by email as the website is currently still under construction. It is much hoped that a real Dynchav store should be opened sometime in the future but their main goal right now is to make Dynchav bags available in many regions all over the world and to continue to subsist in both local and global fashion market.

Two days ago, Dec 15th, was a big day for Nikicio as it launched the latest collection of Femme Resort 2011, The White Oleander. The event took place at the newest and hippest department store The Goods Dept which managed by the creators of Brightspot Market. Nikicio’s collections is one of the local brands that available at the store.
The White Oleander itself has a very interesting story as it is inspired by the powerful movie “White Oleander”, based on the novel by Janet Fitch. It tells a story about a teenager named Astrid and how the journeys she had to went through and experienced the series of foster homes to the other after her mom, Ingrid, goes to prison for committing a crime of murder. Growing up with a single mother who then left her to jail made her grow up fast and rebel.
The movie dominates different shades of blue which can also be seen in the collection. The color from the turbans and the tassel bags also inspired by the color of bed sheets and the idea of travel, which was strongly presented in the story. The long-sleek chic hairdo on the models was also imitating Astrid’s and Ingrid’s straight and simple hairstyle. A few looks from the runway shows a darker sides as well which we could see from the models dressed all-in-black, recalling Astrid’s darker side when she’s breaking out of her shell. Models also walk through the runway wearing the oh-so-edgy Dr. Martens boots.
“Beautiful, Dangerous, Proud.” are the three magic words exemplifying this collection. The movie is quite controversial yet so inspiring in a lot of different ways. Nina Nikicio took the perfect concept showing the feminine yet edgy side. She has succeeded taking the leap to break barrier for the house of Nikicio Femme.
