Playful Promises is a London designed lingerie brand which mixes playful flirty ideas with quirky and directional design.
Playful Promises was created in 2004 by Emma Parker.
Emma became obsessed with lingerie in 1994 when she bought her first pair of ‘grown-up’ knickers. It was the tiniest laciest g-string with a tulle skirted frill edged in velvet ribbon. This tiny French fancy cost £25 (which in the 90’s was a fortune for an 18 year old girl). This meant she couldn’t afford the matching bra and certainly that she had to sacrifice going out partying that weekend but when she put that g-string on it was quite unlike any knickers she had worn before. That is when Emma realized she could conquer the whole world in pants like those!
This led to many drawers full of lacy, frilly, fabulous things, until Emma had developed an addiction to lingerie. The lust for which drove her to design her own.
Playful Promises is for sassy fashionable girls, who like to say ‘I did it my way’ (preferably loudly firstly to the Frank Sinatra version followed by the Sex Pistols), but who are confident enough to not take themselves too seriously and know that life is there to be lived.
Playful Promises collections consist of corsets, bras and panties, quirky gifts and swimwear.
The Outta This World Bra (£20.00) and Outta This World High Waist Brief (£17.50) are truly "outta this world"! This vintage-esque set is not only gorgeous in design and color, but it is also comfortable. It comes in soft satin with black stitch detailing and velvet bows. I normally wear under-wired bras for extra support and shape, but these cups are made from soft matte satin with a bit of stretch that will ensure a perfect fit. I opted for the Outta This World High Waist Brief for more of a retro look, but they also have a bikini version for £15.00.
The Victoria Bra (£25.00) and Victoria Brief (£12.50) set is sophisticated and sexy without pushing the envelope. It exudes a pin-up girl quality that will appeal to many who are fond of this look! The black seductive push-up bra features a double ruffle frill and oversized bow. Frill detail on the adjustable strap completes the look. The brief features a oversized side bow and a mesh back. They also have a g-string version for £12.50.
