Ice Cream Sandwich - that's what the new version of Android OS which is all set for launch in Q4 2011 named. Now, Android OS versions have always been given unusual names - Android 2.0/2.1 was called 'Eclair; Android 2.2 was known as 'Froyo', then came 'Gingerbread' (Android 2.3), which was followed by 'Honeycomb' (Android 3.0) and now it is Android Ice Cream Sandwich. The new Android OS was announced on 10th May, 2011, at Google I/O - the annual two-day developer conference organized by Google. That this operating system will be compatible to all the devices - including the smartphones, is perhaps the USP of the upcoming Android OS version.
