De Lacy Review
LA based designer, Bridgette De Lacy pays homage to easy California living with a mix of soft modal dresses with asymmetrical hemlines, light-weight mesh cropped tops, and lux lace leggings. The pieces in her sophomore collection were designed for fall layering and made for a simple transition from day to night. Pair a cropped top, mesh cowl or lace vest over a dress or wear the dress as a tunic or blouse; the collection is made for mixin’ and matchin.’ De Lacy’s signature adornment, the marble halter bib, and sweet accents, lace trimmed sleeves and silk chiffon underlays, adds a special twist and subtle glamour to the season-less collection.
De Lacy’s imprints is seen in the details of her limited edition collections. From hand braiding the trim on her dresses, individually numbering the hang tags by hand so buyers can identify where the piece falls in the production run, and handpicking fabrics and trim in Downtown LA, each design has De Lacy’s personal stamp. De Lacy debuted her first collection a year ago with the belief that ‘Nothing in your closet should have an expiration date,’ staying true to this philosophy with each garment she creates. Treasuring discretion and quality over mainstream production, her pieces are classic and versatile, ideal for those that want year-long investment pieces on a reserved budget.
All her pieces are made in California, produced in a limited run. Her fall collection is now available in boutiques worlwide including Polkadots & Moonbeams, Jami Lyn on Robertson, and Anne Michelle and online through TheDeLacyCollection.com, where she takes direct orders via email.
Teamed up with jewelry designer to the stars, Michelle Roy, the two are a design pair that showcase their collections at the Social Butterflies showroom at the New Mart in Downtown LA they opened early this year. True design aficionados, together, the team preserves the lost art of design by meticulously handcrafting details to their pieces so that each has a personal touch, a rare find in the age of mass produced fashion.
The dress that I received (shown in the picture above) is not only beautiful, but it's the most unique dress I have in my closet right now. What really sets it apart is that it features a myriad of gorgeous stones on the neckline and the feather tie in the back. The length is perfect for me, because it's long enough in the back where I don't want anything showing, but shorter in the front for me to show off my gams in this warm weather. This is the kind of dress that you will not only be the talk of the party, but the talk of the town, too! "Who is she? Where is she from?" you will hear as you make your memorable entrance.
