THE server? You mean the entire MacRumors site is run off of a single server? Color me impressed.
Well, no...I believe there are at least five servers behind MacRumors. But we restarted the front page one that was bogging down.

The simple answer is that if your company is not making enough money to pay a trademark attorney, you don't need a trademark... these are business protections, and without revenue you have little to protect.
Even if you did pay for a trademark, it does not appear you would be able to protect yourself in court (a potentially far more expensive process)... this means that your trademark would soon be invalid because if you do not actively protect your trademark, you lose it.
The high cost of some of these processes can be seen as a deterrent to trademark squatting... not that much different than the people who buy up domain names hoping that someday they will be valuable.
In terms of your specific company (r.e. your PM), because of the strong possibility that many other entities share the same name, I do not think that you would be allowed to take ownership or copyright over it.
Agree, those who don't understand copyright or trademark should either read
http://www.copyright.gov/ and http://www.uspto.gov/
or hire a professional.

What good is doing it all at the same time if you can't keep the call connected?;)
Hey guess what, I can make calls fine on my AT&T phone.
Keep believing the VZ hype and thinking only verizon customers can actually make phone calls:D

your post is confusing.
you say it worked fine, but then it sounds like your upset it doesn't have audio.
what mac do you have?
how to hook it up depends on what kind, and how old it is.
if you're not sure how old it is, go to the :apple: menu, about this mac, more info.
then on the the main hardware page, there is a Model Identifier should say something followed by a couple numbers, like "Macmini4,1"
give us that, and we can tell you what you need.
thanks for the response!
Sorry for the confusion. I've got a 2k7 MBP with the dvi out on the right. Well that plugs easy enough and get picture working but no audio (because dvi doesn't transfer audio). So I was going to go from my headphone jack to the tv...but can't get any sound at all.

If the M4 is cheaper then go with it. The speeds on SATA II will be comparable.

Personally, I let the phone drop to 0% and then recharge it to 100%. You really don't HAVE to, but some recommend it.
When the iPhone reaches 100% charge, it will not accept any more - so, no, it's not bad to keep it plugged in.

Thanks for your replies.
I'd kind of like to do it all myself but am also interested by the blog option. Are there free blog hosting and domains out there which will give me the required options?
Thanks,

I agree on this one for fresh mac users picture can help me more then text :) but joke aside nice guide
The issue with pictures is that you can't take screenshots while installing AFAIK. Sure I could use a camera but that might start to be tricky. Besides, Lion will be out soon and it would require a new guide ;)

Ok, I currently have a Ti 15" powerbook, but WILL SOON be buying a new 12" powerbook (as SOON as they update the line). I was going to purchase I thought a new 17" Apple LCD Display, but found out that the companies that were quoting the price had none in stock.
So... I have two options. One being purchasing an apple studio display on ebay, or just go out and purchase a new 19" LCD display.
My question for discussion would be: 1) would you consider buying a used LCD monitor off of ebay? 2) What new 19" LCD would you recommend in the $450 price range?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts! :)
Search the forum you find heaps and heaps of recommendations for the Dell 20" wide screen, can't remember the name but some one will post it.

Yes... coffee, tea, cola (including Diet coke), even red wine are all really bad for your veneers. If I had dropped $1K on teeth whitening I'd have to reconsider drinking all those teeth staining yummies. :(
To the OP: maybe a cheaper method-- cut down on the aforementioned beverages and use teeth whitening toothpaste as well as whitening strips. I know that when I have tried Crest Whitestrips I could see a noticeable difference only using one strip a day after 3 measly days! It's much cheaper and you won't feel as bad if you do slip up and drink the yummy-teeth stainers. :p
right i definitely need to change my username!! i don't drink that much diet coke!!
i spoke to the dental hygienist yesterday about whitening and she said generally whitening toothpastes don't do very much. they help slightly to remove superficial stains from coffee, tea etc but the only way to get noticeable results is professional bleaching. she also said products such as 'pearl drops' are quite harsh and can damage the enamel from prolonged use. i asked about the home whitening kits you can buy and she said they're not that effective because most are only about 1/10th or even 1/15th of the strength of the professional stuff so results don't last as long, plus i think it probably takes longer.
i just found crest whitestrips on the web. they're 50 for a 21-day supply. could be worth a shot i suppose but with the professional method you see results in one hour instead of wearing these strips for a few mins a day every day.

Thanks for the replies, anyways, guys. Guess I'll have to keep holding on to it.
Actually, I have a soft spot for the 040 CPU machines. If you want an addictive game for it, try Apeiron (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/apeiron/).
I loved the Sony Trinitron tube they used, compared to the el-cheapo Performa 580 which used cheaper tubes.
Keep it. I'm keeping mine (about 4 of them). They're good for many color games (of the time). :D

So here's my questions for all you Mac guys out there:
How is security on a Mac as opposed to a PC?
Pretty damn good. I rarely ever (I don't think I actually have) read about someone getting a virus on their Mac. I don't have any virus protection software and everything is running just fine on mine.
Is it easy to keep files and programs organized and easily accessible?
Very easy. Coming from a PC it takes a little getting used to in the fact that you can't just add an organization bar at the top (date of creation, time, date of modification, etc.) [Unless you can, if so, someone let me know :)] You also can't cut and paste, you have to either drag and drop or copy/paste then delete the original.
How is the "ease of use" for a Mac beginner? I wanna be able to get it and go! Just like with my iPhone.
Very easy. At a basic point it seems to be a little easier and more user friendly than a windows PC is. Everything is done a certain way and if you can wrap your head around it, it's very simple. HOwever you have keyboard commands which make Macs very efficient. The use of spaces also drastically improves this with the ability to have "unlimited" desktops, each of which you can switch to at any time.
And my number one priority, how dependable will my Mac be in 2,4,and 10 years down the line if I can't just go and get another one?
Very dependable. Of course if you're speaking spec wise, it depends on what you get now, although you can always upgrade the specs.
I'm using an 08 BlackBook right now and love it; 2.2ghz, 4 gigs of ram, and a 320gb hard drive. Amazingly fast and it never lags, allows me to run XP and 7 in a virtual window (within a program, not a separate OS) without much slowdown either.

Hello
I'm hoping someone (with more experience at this than me) can help. I'm a UK citizen currently working in the US. I'm paid in cash and have been paying this into a US bank account. I finish my contract and head back to the UK in a month or so, and would prefer to keep my money in US dollars at the moment (until I can get a good exchange rate).
As I'm not getting any interest on the money, I would like to invest it in some Apple stock. I have researched this but cannot seem to find the best way of doing this. It seems I have to be a US citizen for most brokers to help me? And I'd rather use US brokers instead of UK as my money is in a US bank account.
If anyone has any advice as to how I as a british citizen can invest USD into a US company that would be great.
Thanks
Martin
