HDTV Buying Guide 2011

Buying a television set in today's market is truly a very confusing task, thanks to the large number of technologies and types that are available. High Definition (HD) viewing has become the norm in a majority of homes all around the world, and there is no escaping the fact that this is a trend that is permanent. Flat screen TV's used to be a luxury item till a few years back, but they have become common commodities now. Moreover, you have various technologies like Plasma, LCD, LED and OLED to choose from, and each of these are available in many different sizes. To complicate matters further, 3D television sets are also hitting the markets now, leaving the poor buyer confused about what it is he was looking for in the first place.

While it is easy to get swayed by fancy names and numbers, the fact remains that a TV set is a long-term purchase for most buyers. So, it is very important to buy one that will not become obsolete in a few months. However, it also does not make sound sense to just splurge a fairly large amount of money on an HDTV set that offers features that will never be used. So to make the right purchase, one needs to know exactly what he is looking for and should not get confused or carried away with the plethora of choices that are available.
